Contributing to a sustainable society through biodiversity conservation.
Creating the future together. Towards a society that is truly rich and secure—where people connect and co-create lives while sharing thoughts and wisdom. To realize this, it is essential to protect and utilize "resources" like land and water, the "diversity" of living things, and their "connections."
Water supports everything from our daily lives and manufacturing to agriculture and drinking water. This water cannot be used stably just by falling from the sky. Forests and soil, serving as water sources, store rain, purify it, and slowly deliver it to us as rivers and groundwater.
However, the function of this land cannot be sustained by soil and trees alone. Diverse living things such as microorganisms, plants, insects, and animals living there support each other to protect the quality and quantity of water. This is the power of "biodiversity." Land rich in biodiversity is the source of sound water resources.
The essence of biodiversity lies in the "food web," where diverse creatures are connected in a complex relationship of eating and being eaten. This is not a single chain, but a network where grasshoppers eat plants, frogs and birds eat them, and microorganisms decompose dead creatures and return them to the soil.
The more complex this web is, the more the ecosystem's balance is maintained, even if some species decrease.
Combining "rainwater utilization x IoT," we promote green infrastructure that utilizes natural environment functions in social infrastructure. We demonstrate a next-generation water cycle model that balances water conservation and ecosystem preservation.
Centering on the "Regional Club" where students and residents participate autonomously, we provide environmental education and sensory development starting from the site. We nurture future leaders together with the community.
Acquired "Nature Coexistence Site" certification for fields and idle land in Miyakoda. Operating as a demonstration field to see, feel, and learn about carbon offsetting in agriculture. Introducing biochar farming to aim for reliable carbon fixation while enhancing soil power.
Visualizing site terrain with high precision using 3D scanning. Identifying exact positions of pipes and equipment to reduce wasteful development and renovation. Improving work efficiency and safety while minimizing environmental impact.
At nursery "Renri no Ko," we value time for children to "notice," "think," and "feel" through interaction with nature and people. Nurturing a circle of "co-education" that spreads to families and the community.
Serving dishes at our restaurant that value the blessings of our farm and local nature. When interest like "Where did this vegetable grow?" sprouts, it becomes an opportunity to realize connections with nature and the community through food.
We live on this land, work on this land,I-kan Corporation CEO Masayoshi Nakamura
